The Headies says it might disqualify Portable over his death threat to co-nominees of its 2022 edition.

The award’s organizers broke the news in a statement broadcast via HipTV, its satellite TV channel, on Friday.

The Headies unveiled the nominees for its 2022 edition on Tuesday. Portable, the singer, was nominated to vie in the ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste’ categories.

In the ‘Rookie of the Year’ category, he is expected to compete with Av, Fave, Magixx, and Ugoccie. For the second category, he is pitted against Bella Shmurda, Mohbad, Naira Marley, and Goya Menor among others.

But in a video on Wednesday, Portable, real name Habeeb Okikiola, claimed other nominees are no match for him. He further threatened to kill anyone who wins any of the categories in his place.

In its public announcement, The Headies said it might be forced to disqualify the singer if he fails to retract his statement and issue an apology on his social media pages.

“We have notified the Nigerian police of Portable’s actions to fellow nominees,” the organizers stated.

Also demand for the immediate retraction of the video as well as a written apology to nominees in both categories and to The Headies has been made. Should Portable fail to meet their demands, they will not only disqualify him from participating in The Headies but also enforce the instrumentality of the law.

EFCC Reveals Why It Invaded Abuja Residence Of Rochas Okorocha

Video Of EFCC Operatives In Okoracha's Residence Emerge

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that its operatives laid siege on the Abuja residence of former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday.

The EFCC in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren explained that the step taken became necessary after Okorocha jumped administrative bail.

Uwujaren added in the statement that the lawmaker has been evading service of court papers and refused to show up in court to answer charges against him.

He explained that Senator Okorocha is standing trial for a 17-count criminal charge bordering on diversion of public funds and properties to the tune of N2.9billion brought against him by the EFCC but has refused to show up in court.

The EFCC explained that the trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja had warned during the last sitting (March 28th, 2022) when the case was adjourned till May 30, 2022 that no further adjournment will be granted hence the need by the operatives to forcefully arrest Okorocha to present him in court.

The statement reads: “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), today May 24, 2022, arrived at the Maitama, Abuja home of a former Governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha, to effect his arrest.

“The move followed the refusal of the former governor to honour invitations after jumping the administrative bail earlier granted him by the commission.

“ EFCC had on January 24, 2022 filed a 17-count criminal charge bordering on diversion of public funds and properties to the tune of N2.9billion against Okorocha.

“ The case was assigned to Honourable Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja but attempts to arraign Senator Okorocha were twice stalled owing to the absence of the ex-governor who evaded service of processes.

“At the last adjourned date, March 28th, 2022, Justice Ekwo before adjourning until May 30th, 2022, had warned that it was “the last adjournment I shall grant in this matter”.

“In the circumstances, the commission is left with no option than to effect the arrest of Senator Okorocha and bring him to trial.”

Naija News earlier reported that EFCC operatives on Tuesday laid siege on the private residence of Okorocha who is a presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress.

The house is located at No 3, Nyasa Close, Off Ontario Street, Abuja.

Bida City declared UNESCO Creative Cities Network member – Etsu Nupe

Bida city is the first Nigerian city to be accepted into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

By worldmusicrecordsnews

The Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, says Bida has become one of the best-selected cities in the world by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).

It has also been designated as the city of crafts and folk arts.

Mr Abubakar said this in Abuja on Monday at a two-day National Workshop on the Implementation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) 1954 Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflicts.

Created in 2004, The UNESCO Creative Cities Network seeks to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development.

The traditional ruler, who is also the Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers in Niger State, said: “Bida city became the first city in the country to be accepted as a member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network, and designated as the city of crafts and fork arts.

“This was due to protecting the Bida city’s cultural property, which had survived several armed conflicts dating back from the 11th century to date.

“The city’s traditional institution was able to maintain its respect of cultural property by not exposing it to destruction or damage in the event of armed conflicts and hostility,’’ Etsu Nupe said.

According to him, the institution also safeguarded it from theft and vandalism.

He explained further: `This was made possible by deploying traditional measures such as protection by a traditional security system, community networking, knowledge and skills transfer, local practices and learning, storage, festivals and creativity.’’

The traditional ruler said that universities that offer archaeology recently discovered that seeming-less glass bracelets technology developed thousands of years ago is still in practice in Bida.”

A resource person, Nath Adediran, called on the Federal Government to allocate the statutory budget for the preservation, protection and security of cultural property in armed conflicts.

Mr Adediran, who called for the domestication of the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts, stressed the need for relevant authorities in the education sector to incorporate it into the school curriculum.

“Cultural property defines people’s behavioural pattern in society’s ideals, traditions, arts, morals and beliefs, which gives humanity a national identity. Therefore, it is necessary to preserve our culture, history and heritage,’’ he said.

Also speaking, Ifeoma Anyanwutaku, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Culture, said the national workshop was to produce a strategic plan to protect cultural property in armed conflicts.

She recalled that the convention for the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts was adopted at the Hague, Netherlands, in 1954 in the wake of the massive destruction of cultural heritage during the second world war.

“Nigeria ratified the first Protocol of the 1954 Hague Convention on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts on June 5, 1961, and the second Protocol on Oct. 21, 2015, and has since committed to implementing the instrument,’’ she said.
